Review: The Impossible Game for Android

The Impossible Made Possible

It may sound like  really weird question, but who genuinely said that Flappy Bird was an incredibly fun game and you didn't want to throw your phone or tablet out of the window after you've played it for an hour and a half and only managing to get to the 8th pipe at best? Because if I'm honest, if you take away the Xbox Arcade pedigree from The Impossible Game, it's just another version of Flappy Bird. This is like Flappy Bird Version 1, before there was ever a frigging bird involved. The premise is simple, get from one side of the level to the other. Easy right? Hell. No.

Right, lets start

Great start right there...

About the Game

I really don't need to go into detail about it. For those who are unfamiliar with the game, the basic premise is to get from one side of the screen to the other without touching spikes, hopping on single blocks suspended in mid air and generally not screwing up. If you do, you start right back at the beginning, the music restarts, and it just generally makes you feel bad about what you're doing. So you can put it in practice mode to, you know, practice, but that stops all of the music. But you can also put down check point markers to save you from going all the way back to the start. But you put one in the wrong point, you just hit spikes non-stop. So you remove the checkpoint marker to go back a bit, it takes you all the way back to the start of the god damn level.

I will clear these frigging spikes

Trst me, this didn't go very far
Just the Conclusion

This game depresses me. This game depresses me for the things which should made it fantastic. The way the music pumps you, or the way the game feels, or most certainly how you just want to play the game for hours until you finally smash it apart and win the game. But it's just such a fiddly little thing to play when you just want to play on the commute to work or whilst you're sat in your college lesson. And unfortunately, I'll probably end up playing the game again in about an hours time. Madness, utter madness.

Well, fuck...
