Music News

Sorry it's been a few days since my last post, but its been a long week, anyway, I thought that for a change, I could post some music news from the world of rock and metal. Anyway, lets kick this off.

SLIPKNOT ANNOUNCE TEMPORARY BASSIST:
Slipknot have announced that guitarist Donnie Steele will fill in for Paul Gray on the upcoming Sonisphere shows across Europe and the Rock In Rio show in Brazil.

PANIC! AT THE CINEMA:
Last month, Panic! At The Disco released a short film featuring a montage of songs from the new album 'Vices & Virtues', which has been directed by Shane Drake. Of the collaboration, frontman Brendon Urie told Rock Sound "Shane was just so awesome to work with, he is unlike any director we have ever known. He really pushes us to come up with some crazy ideas." Yeah.

NOT RUNNING FREE:
Former Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di'Anno has been jailed for nine months after being found guilty for falsely claiming £45,479 in benefits. The singer had been playing live from 2002 until 2008 despite telling the Department Of Work and Pensions he'd suffered nerve damage to his back that prohibited him from performing. Like I said before. Yeah.

FOOS TO RELEASE COVERS ALBUM:
On the release of their album 'Wasting Light', which by the way I will be reviewing soon, the Foo Fighters have announced they will release the vinyl-only covers record 'Medium Rare' in aid of Record Store Day on the 16th of April. Featuring versions of songs from the likes of Prince, Thin Lizzy, Pink Floyd, Ramones, Husker Du and many more. Expect this album to sell out in about 3 seconds flat across the world, and appear on eBay for an astronomical sum not long after.

ALBUMS:
Albums to be released are flocking this month. With The Blackout and Hollywood Undead having already released albums (Hope and American Tragedy respectively), The King Blues, Sum 41, Within Temptation, Make Do And Mend, Thursday. Funeral For A Friend, Travis Barker and Between the Buried And Me have added to the mix of so many other albums which will be released from the likes of Aiden, Asking Alexandria, Amon Amarth, Atlantis, Agnostic Front, My Passion, Panic! At The Disco and Radiohead. Well worth the wait I hope.

I hope that this has enlightened you. Album reviews, a book review and more weirdness to come
