Review: Ministry Of Sound; The Annual 15 Years

Yes, I know I said that I wasn't going to blog until the second of January, but I feel that I have to review this album. Ministry Of Sound have been bringing us great artists for the past 15 years. Example, Fedde Le Grand, Basement Jaxx, Chicane, SASH!, Calvin Harris, and Eric Prydz. This album offers 3 CD's of pure bass and dance bliss. A must have for anyone who remotely knows dance music.

I'm a bit of a mixed box of assorted musical tastes. I like metal, that's no lie. I like jazz as well, and swing. I also like techno, trance and rave. And smooth rap. But this album has to include some of my favourite tracks by some of my favourite artists. Like, I'm Not Alone by Calvin Harris, Breathe by The Prodigy, I Want Your Soul by Armand Van Helden, and Starlight by The Supermen Lovers. This album is stretched across 3 CD's of dancey, trancey goodness.

Featuring newer songs from the likes of Example, Calvin Harris, Basshunter and Dizzee Rascal, this album offers nostalgia and untouched rhythms the likes of which haven't been featured on an album like this. The album kicks off with Kickstarts, by Example, a track which is being featured EVERYWHERE and anywhere, followed seamlessly by Dizzee Rascal with Dirtee Disco, then followed by Believer by Freemasons, featuring Wynter Gordon. The album continues this way, with new songs, dashed with a shot of good old fashioned dance to keep the winter chills away.

Overall, this is possibly one of the best albums to be released pre-2011, and hopefully a 16 year annual will be released next year around this time. Merry Christmas, and a happy new year everyone.

Album Score:

Fluidity - 5/5
Seamlessness - 5/5
Hooks - 5/5
Mix of old and new - 5/5
Basic album score - 5/5

Overall Score - 25/25
